Meet Rachel, The Sassy VeganHi everyone!
My name is Rachel (she/her) and I own "The Sassy Vegan" bakery and cafe.
I'm a quirky, neurodivergent, and queer woman just trying to find my place in the world. Inclusivity is my passion — not just when it comes to food but people as well.
Creating yummy food that includes those with food sensitivities makes my heart happy and is part of my healing journey as I recover from Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
We operate out of Cook Spring Shared Kitchen in Fort Wayne that is certified & inspected by the Board of Health. I'm also ServSafe® certified and take food safety extremely serious. Just ask any of my former co-workers. I'm annoyingly anal about cross-contamination, cleanliness and all things personal hygiene.
I've been eating plant based since 2012 and went vegan in 2014. All of my products are 100% plant based (vegan) & free of gluten products. The kitchen I use is a shared space and is not Gluten-Free Certified. That's why my items are labeled specifically "gluten-sensitive," even though I don't use gluten in any items
I started this venture back in February 2020 just for a fun side gig. By the time August rolled around, I had fallen in love and finally decided what I wanted to be when I grew up. .
The Sassy Vegan" is my full-time job now in addition to working for FWCS.
When I'm not pouring tons of love into my Sassy Treats, you can usually find my nose in a book (in 2019 alone, I read 100). Or I'm spending time with my fur babies Ginger & Hex
If you made it this far then THANK YOU for reading and even bigger thanks for making my dreams become my reality .
