Jesse Bouchard Profile Photo

Special Olympics Athlete/Advocate

Jesse Bouchard is a compassionate and determined individual who exemplifies strength, courage, resilience, and positivity. Living with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy, Jesse has defied the odds in countless ways and continues to do so every single day. His determination and positive mindset have powered him through some of life’s greatest challenges.

Jesse is an inspiration to others, despite facing significant adversity. He loves connecting with people and helping others in any way he can. His vibrant and upbeat personality, combined with his dedication to kindness and being a gentleman, make him truly remarkable.

A key part of Jesse’s success has been the unwavering support of his family and friends. Their love and encouragement have played a vital role in helping him achieve his goals and overcome challenges. Jesse’s family has been his foundation, cheering him on in every milestone, from his first steps as an athlete to his national achievements.

Jesse is deeply devoted to his family, friends, and his girlfriend, Victoria Berezovich. He lovingly champions Victoria’s advocacy and athletic pursuits, standing as one of her biggest supporters. Beyond his personal journey, Jesse has made notable appearances in media, including two television interviews for the Edmonton Elks (EE) on CTV in previous years and another on CTV in 2016 to celebrate his perfect game in 5 pin bowling.

As a proud advocate for the Special Olympics and inclusivity, Jesse had the honor of being a featured athlete in the 2024 Special Olympics campaign to raise funds for Special Olympics in which he fundraised over $3,000. His signage, showcasing his picture and bronze medal from nationals, was displayed in Safeway and Sobeys stores across Canada. Jesse has been involved in the Special Olympics since 2011 and actively participates in advanced outdoor soccer with the organization in Edmonton. In 2018, he and his team won a bronze medal at the nationals in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

Jesse has also made significant achievements in 5-pin bowling, a sport he has loved since the age of 14. In 2014, he became the first disabled athlete to make the Edmonton Open Mixed Provincial Team, averaging an impressive 256 over 20 games to qualify. His team won the provincials in Red Deer, Alberta, and represented Alberta at the nationals in Calgary, where they finished fourth in Canada.

In February 2016, Jesse became the first disabled bowler to achieve a perfect game in 5 pin bowling scoring 450. Remarkably, he achieved this during the final game of a teaching masters tournament, where he needed a score of 410 to win the tournament. Jesse bowls regularly, participating in three adult leagues each week.

Jesse’s love for sports extends beyond bowling. He is a diehard fan of the Edmonton Elks, the Edmonton Oilers and the Green Bay Packers. He has attended six Grey Cups and was thrilled to see the Edmonton Elks win twice. His passion for football began in 1995 when his grandmother Kathy, affectionately known as “Diehard 2,” took him to his first game. That moment sparked a lifelong love for the sport. Since 2003, Jesse has been a proud season ticket holder for the Elks, cherishing the bonds and friendships he has formed with fellow fans and former players.

Now, Jesse honors his grandmother’s tradition by sharing the joy of football with others, taking friends and loved ones to games.

Jesse’s story is one of courage, resilience, perseverance, love, and boundless kindness. His achievements are a testament to his hard work, but they are also a reflection of the support of those who stand beside him. Jesse is a cherished part of the lives he touches, inspiring everyone fortunate enough to know him.
