DESHAYMOND SOLOMON

ABOUT ME

“Not bad for a N*99@ from the Gutta like me!”, Blind Singer/songwriter, Deshaymond proclaims on the soulful, mid-tempo, cover of Kina’s “Girl From the Gutter”, simply titled “Gutta ''. The track speaks of triumph over adversity and calls out naysayers and haters . “As a black man I’ve had to face adversity that my white counterparts just don’t have to”, says the self proclaimed Blind Savage. After becoming blind in 2015, Deshaymond was told by several people close to him he could never achieve his dreams or realize the life he had been working towards. The blind music artist has made it his life’s mission to realize every single one of his life's dreams. “In this life, so many people tell you what you can't do and where you'll never go. You have to know who you are and what gifts you hold. That’s why I titled my album “I Am...”, explains Deshaymond. Born April 19, the last day of aries, Deshaymond is a true ram. His style, charisma, and innate leadership ability makes him perfect for the complex music industry. The blind music artist feels it's his duty to represent the black community, gay community, and the disability community in excellence. “If I can inspire, uplift, or be an example for at least one person in any of my intersecting communities then I will feel like I’ve done my job.”

“Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Maxwell, and Monica are some of my biggest inspirations.”, says Deshaymond. Channeling the uninhibited raw southern delivery of Ray Charles, Indica gives a vibe of Netflix and chill paired with the best Zaza Cali has to offer. “INDICA '' paints the scene of the precise moment someone falls in love. “ Whether you're falling in love with a sneaky link, or marijuana there is going to be a push and pull, there's always that moment that you feel it but don't want to admit to yourself.” The R&B/Blues/Rock infused record takes the listener on a ride set in the backdrop of a hookup. From revelation to realization, Indica serves sophistication, sexual, and utter ratchetness.

“ I used to be so many things. I've worked in retail management, Human resources & Payroll, Software Implementation, and the list goes on.” , laughs the “Blind Savage”. In 2015, the Louisiana native lost his sight to Optic Atrophy. He was then working as a software trainer at one of the world's leading cloud based HRIS companies. With a career spanning over two decades in the corporate world, Deshaymond possesses the business experience necessary to run his company, Deshaymond Media LLC. “I'm very proud of my resume. Coming from where I come from it's unheard of to work for the largest payroll company in the world. No one from my neighborhood that I know of has gotten the opportunity to travel the world and gain the first hand experience I've had the privilege to gain.” As an independent artist and entrepreneur , Deshaymond has released several singles and is preparing his debut album for release in spring of 2024. Garnering hundreds of thousands of streams, thousands of weekly social media views, and a fanbase that grows daily, the “Sophistiratchet gentleman” embodies the relentless drive of an entrepreneur. “I don't have anywhere to go but up. I'm in it forever. I live and breathe music, it's my passion.”

Growing up in Coonville, a rural, impoverished, predominantly black neighborhood that sits on the outskirts of Lafayette,Louisiana. Deshaymond knows the true meaning of “got it out the mud”. “I grew up in a trailer park. Not one of the nice ones with paved streets, community pools, and common areas. I grew up on a gravel road. It flooded all the time and there were massive potholes everywhere.”, says Deshaymond. Enduring uninhabitable living conditions, the trauma of crack-addicted relatives, and a laundry list of childhood trauma. The singer/songwriter writes from the depths of his pain. The singers debut album “I Am” reveals the fabric of the multi-dimensional artist and creator. “I’m working on building a catalog that will stand the test of time. I’m not interested in making music for the moment, I'm interested in capturing moments.” As a Black, Blind, Gay, Male artist the crooner is a part of a very diverse collection of communities. “ I have so many slashes.”, the artist says with a huge imperfect smile. “ Before anything, I'm a black man. I’m a part of the Black community, the Disability community, the LGBTQ+ community. I accept all of me. I've fallen out of love with perfect, and fallen into love with myself. Doing what makes me happy and honoring my God-given gifts is the purest form of self-love.” Self love is Deshaymonds main goal. “ When no one else loves you, you gotta love you More.
