Spring is in the air, the snow is slowly melting, and the sun is sticking around in the sky a little longer. Before you grab that duster, before you climb into the deep dark spaces of your attic for spring cleaning and lastly before you put on your earplugs and start cutting your lawn, I need to ask you a very important question. How many times have you made an assumption about someone you've never met before?
While you think about your answer to that question I'd like to remind you about the unique conditions that we raise awareness for in the month of March. Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Disabilities Awareness, Endometriosis, Multiple Sclerosis, Kidney Conditions and Trisomy Awareness. These are some of the many medical issues that people live with all over the world that may cause people to spend a great deal of time at home or may prevent people from working at all. I am seriously curious and would like you, the readers of this blog post, to leave in the comment section what you think most individuals with conditions I've mentioned do for a living? The Internet has provided people the opportunity to find work, friendships and information, so if nothing else comes to mind besides online related jobs don't worry. The point of my exercise is to prevent you from making the assumption that disabled individuals are incapable of working or looking after themselves.
The Sit Down Stand Show is dedicated to the education and inspiration of it's listeners when discussing what individuals with disabilities are capable of and the month of March is no exception.
